All of hearing protection can prevent from hearing loss whether it is low or high level of damage. Eventhough there is difference in size but each type has their own features and uniqueness that we must take note.

Hearing protection that we wear at the back or inside our ear can be contain by fussy tecnology , more power amplifier and
increase it's toughness and durability.

Behind-The-Ear (BTE)

This behind the ear (BTE) hearing protection contain component that are install in the plastic cover, hanging behind ear. Sound that has been amplified will flow in a transparent plastic tube to ear mould. Eventough this models has been design a decade ago, it can be as best as technology these day by adding some fussy technology to the basic idea of this type of hearing protection. For example, there is more smaller size of hearing protection aid this day. Actually, there is a bigger room to include more electric circuit and to amplify sound compared to type In-The-Ear (ITE). This BTE type also has longer lasting duration and others has waterproof features.

In-The-Ear (ITE)

In-The-Ear (ITE) hearing protection aid has provide its component into special ear mould that has been design following the shape of the outer side ear. Size and easy to control also help people that has slow hand movement.

In-The-Canal (ITC)

In-The-Canal (ITC) hearing protection aid is the smallest, with ear mould has been load into the ear canal and other small area can be seen outside the ear. It's look like small but still can see at the outer side of ear.

Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC)

The new generation of hearing protection aid is Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC). It is almost cannot be seen - until someone see into you ear. The only indicator of its exist is only the small plstic tube that you use to plug that equipment into you ear.
This type CIC is very popular because of its ecstatic attraction. But for some individual ( there has tight ear canal) make this type are not suitable to them.

Peltor hearing protection

Basic Hearing Protection for Shooters (Peltor Hearing Protection)

Peltor Hearing Protection

There is many function of wearing the hearing protection. Some of the function is for hunter and shooter. While they are shooting, the loud bang can damage their hearing. The need of protection for them is already available in the market. The Peltor hearing protection is good for them too.

Appropriate hearing protection is a must for hunters and shooters of all ages, although it's normally the last thing on a shooter or hunter's mind. I know from experience because I use to think the same way, until I discovered some early onset hearing loss in my early thirties. Being that most of the early hearing loss was in my left ear and I shoot right handed; much of the loss can most likely be attributed to all the hunting and shooting I did as a child and teenager without the use of suitable hearing protection. That served as a wake-up call for me, so now I go to great lengths to assure that my hearing is appropriately protected when I shoot or hunt.

According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology (AAO), exposure to noise at or above the 80 to 85 decibels (dB) range can produce injury to the ear. The damage itself comes about when the loud noise injures the sensitive nerve endings in the inner ear. The louder the noise or longer the exposure to the sound, the more harm occurs.

Now that the importance of hearing protection for shooters has been demonstrated, let's talk about selecting the best style of hearing protection for your needs. Since not all types of hearing protection are equal, I'd recommend basing your buying decision on a combination of facts and price. I wouldn't automatically go for the least expensive or cheapest solution as some of the less costly types of hearing protection may only offer minimal protection.

Most people would think buying some type of hearing protection would be pretty easy, but there are a number of different types of hearing protection available along with various levels of protection. The focus of this article is to provide some basic information on the various types of hearing protection, along with some recommendations.

For the most part, hearing protection for shooting sports can broken down into a few different categories: passive ear plugs, passive hearing protection, and electronic hearing protection.

Let's a take a moment to review each one of these different types of hearing protection in detail:

Passive Ear Plugs - These are basically soft plugs that are usually made from plastic or some type of foam based material. These plugs are inserted into the ear opening and they help to dampen any high volume sound that the ear is exposed to. They are known as "passive" because these plugs don't utilize any electronic devices that damper noises. Ear plugs are by far the less expensive form of hearing protection, but do they actually work effectively? The sound is muffled a bit, but can still be quite loud. When I was younger, I can recall using ear plugs of this type when dove hunting; and I can still recall how bad my ears rang after a entire day of hunting. I'm sure the plugs helped out some, but they really didn't protect my ears as well as they should have been protected.

Passive Hearing Protection - This style usually is comprised of ear muffs that have a cup which covers the entire ear. The muffs are usually connected by a headband or headpiece of some type. Like the passive ear plugs, this style won't have the electronic sound reducing device. The ear muff style design is nice as the cup has a seal that protects the entire ear from the noise versus the ear plugs which only partially protect the ear canal itself. Most ear muff models have the ability to be adjusted, although some of the less expensive ear muff models may not have this feature. Unfortunately, ear muffs of this nature dampen all sound, so the wearer can't hear anyone talking or any other significant sounds.

Electronic Hearing Protection - This design contains an ear muff style and incorporates it with electronic technology that reduces the noise down to a level that isn't harmful to the human ear. The entire sound dampening process takes place faster than the blink of an eye as the suppressed sound is transmitted to the wearer almost instantly. The best feature of electronic hearing protection is the power to hear everything that is going on around you while you are shooting. In many situations, such as on the range, during training, or while hunting; this can be a great benefit. Of course, due to the technology needed, electronic hearing protection tends to be the most expensive all the hearing protection devices. Several of the higher end electronic models may have other enhancements such as a independent volume adjustment for each side of the ear muffs, enhanced adjustability, a battery saver feature to conserve battery use, and ambient sound magnification. The ambient sound enhancement is a great benefit for hunters as it augments noise to a level that is far greater than the naked ear can hear. At the same time, the augmented sound is instantly dampened when a shot is fired.

So how do you select which model to buy? Evaluate your specific needs and match that up to the best choice above. Personally, I wouldn't advocate the basic passive ear plugs. Far superior to no hearing protection at all, they offer only minimal protection. If you only shoot now and again or don't have the demand for the additional capability of an electronic model, basic passive ear muffs will most likely work just fine. If you are a regular shooter or hunter, the electronic models can be a outstanding investment with all their added features. I changed from passive headphones to an electronic model years ago, and I've never once regretted it. At the end of the day, the decision really comes down to your own personal preferences and needs.

If you have additional questions about how to safeguard your hearing while you are shooting or hunting, please visit Ear protection for Shooters as it contains some good information on electronic and passive hearing protection.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ed_Guerriero

Peltor Hearing Protection

New Generation of Behind The Ear Hearing Aids (Peltor Hearing Protection)

Peltor hearing protection

Peltor hearing protection technology has change from generation to generation. There is some new features that has been added to the old generation. This new generation of behind the ear hearing aids discuss the the technology used in the ear hearing aids.

Hearing loss is a common condition that affects adults and children. 1 in 3 people over the age of 60 have hearing loss. However, a growing number of young people (in their 30s and 40s) are suffering from hearing loss caused by excessive noise such as loud music, motorcycle engines and loud nightclubs. Yet, many people refuse to wear a hearing aid because it makes them look old.

In view of the stigma associated with hearing aids, manufacturers redesigned their products - targeted at the baby boomers - to look more hip and cool. New behind the ear hearing aids now come in various shapes and attractive colors. They are now smaller and hardly noticeable. When you do see them they often just look like an ordinary cell phone or Bluetooth ear piece.

Along with the newer sleek designs and colors of behind the ear hearing aids comes a new wave of technology. This advanced technology provides state of the art features, making behind the ear hearing aid a must have gadget that the baby boomers don't mind wearing.

Phonak and Oticon are two of the leading manufacturers who have revamped their behind the ear hearing aids to appeal to the baby boomer generation and first time users. Phonak's new Audeo Personal Communication Assistant (PCA) is a sleek new behind the ear hearing aid that comes in 15 attractive color choices. The state of the art features include Crystalsound, which is extended high-frequency amplification, and Digital SurroundZoom the best directional microphone system. The unique shape and award winning design gives behind the ear hearing aid a fresh look.

The Oticon Delta is designed for those who want high-tech features in a sleek, modern behind the ear hearing aid. The Delta uses Artificial Design (AI) which functions much like the human brain by automatically making thousands of minute adjustments to keep the sound perfect. It uses directional microphones to help reduce unwanted noise. It comes in a wide array of colors making it not only a great hearing aid device but also a cool one. The new Delta triangular shaped hearing aid was named one of the best inventions in personal electrics at the 2007 Consumer Electronic Show.

Behind the ear hearing aids require little fitting adjustment. So you can buy one "off the shelf" and then make the necessary amplification adjustments. There are numerous adjustments that can be made via easy connection to a computer by your hearing care professional.

The new behind the ear hearing aids are making a strong comeback in a market that is catering more and more to younger people with hearing loss. The state-of-the-art features, unique designs and colors certainly make behind the ear hearing aid a popular choice not only among the baby boomers, but also the older people. Feature
The more features a hearing aid have, the more expensive it is. Think about the features that you will be most apt to use before deciding which hearing aid to buy. You'll only be wasting your money if you buy a hearing aid with more features than you need.

2. Value or basic hearing aids
Most companies offer three or more price point options for different ranges (such as basic, intermediate or top) of hearing aids. Forego the top range which is the pricier option that has lots of features you may not need. Instead, opt for the value or basic range, which still offer great performance and enough features for the regular user. Best of all, you will still receive a warranty and good customer service.

3. Older models of hearing aids
Hearing aid manufacturers are continually coming up with newer products.
